Overview
Donot pairs you up with a random coworker each round for a casual 30-min chat — coffee, lunch, a walk, or a quick Zoom. It's the easiest way to meet people across the company you wouldn't normally cross paths with.
Joining
There are two ways to join — pick whichever is easier.
From the website (you're already here):
- Click the Join Donot button at the top of this page.
- Sign in with Slack if you haven't already.
- Pick your location.
That's it — you're enrolled and the rest of the dashboard unlocks.
From Slack:
- Type
/donot joinin any Slack channel and send the message (don't worry — nothing will actually post in chat). - Pick your location from the popup menu.
- You'll get a DM from the Donot app with a link back here. Open it and sign in with Slack to see your dashboard.
How it works
At a configured cadence (for example, every Monday at 12:00 PM ET), Donot picks pairs from everyone enrolled. You get a Slack DM in a small group with your partner, then:
- Pick a time that works for both of you. Donot reads your Google Calendar and only suggests slots when you're both free.
- A calendar invite is created automatically — no back-and-forth.
- Meet up (in person, video, whatever fits).
- When Donot asks, confirm in Slack — "Yes we met!" or "No, we didn't."

Pausing & leaving
Going on vacation, swamped at work, or just need a break? You don't have to leave entirely.
- Snooze (temporary): Settings → Snooze → pick a date to pause until. Or in Slack:
/donot pause(indefinite) or/donot pause 2026-05-15(until a specific date). Pairings skip you until snooze ends. - Resume early:
/donot resume, or untoggle Snooze in Settings. - Leave entirely: App Home → Leave, or
/donot leave. You stop getting paired immediately. Your stats stick around if you ever come back.
Donot also auto-skips you if your Google Calendar shows you OOO for 3+ days that week — no action needed on your end.
Streaks, donuts & donots
- 🍩 Donut — earned each time you confirm a meeting happened.
- 🔥 Streak — consecutive rounds where you successfully met.
- 🚫 Donot — issued when you no-show on a scheduled meeting. Disputable (more below).
- 🏆 Badges — 30+ to collect. Awarded for milestones like first meeting, 10 meetings, perfect month, meeting people across multiple locations, etc.
If both you and your partner say "no, we didn't meet" — no donots are issued, but streaks reset.
Disputing a donot
If you got a donot but you actually met your partner, click Dispute on the DM Donot sent you. A short form pops up asking for context, then admins review and either keep or remove the donot. If the dispute is upheld, you also earn a Ghost Buster badge.
FAQ
What if the calendar event for our meeting gets moved or deleted?
If the event moves on Google Calendar (by 10+ minutes), Donot picks up the change within an hour, syncs its records automatically, and posts a quick heads-up in your group DM with the new time — no action needed from you. If the event gets deleted, Donot posts a "pick a new time" prompt so you can re-schedule or opt out of the round.
What if I really can't meet this round?
Click "I can't meet this round" on the scheduling prompt. Your partner gets notified that the pairing is closed for this round.
What if I never want to be paired with [person]?
Settings → Blocklist → add them. The pairing algorithm will never pair you two.
What if I show up and my partner ghosts me?
After your meeting time, you'll get a Slack prompt asking if you met. Click "No, we didn't" → Donot then asks privately whether you showed up. If you did and your partner didn't, the donot lands on them, your streak is preserved.
What if there's an odd number of available people?
Whoever's left out gets a friendly DM saying they'll be paired next round. Their streak isn't affected.
